Adults Can Learn, Too

You've probably heard the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." Well, that saying is not true at all when it comes to humans. You can certainly teach adults new things. And in fact, most adults could benefit from learning something new! Maybe you could brush up on your spreadsheet skills or learn a second language. Perhaps you could learn to play a new instrument or learn how to paint. The possibilities are endless. If you are looking for more information about adult education, then check out this blog. We post all sorts of fun articles about the topic.

3 Great HVAC Test Prep Tips

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning repair -- or HVAC for short -- is become an increasingly popular career to pursue. For those who feel the traditional college experience isn't the right path for them, the HVAC trade can give you a career that is both financially and professionally rewarding. That said, HVAC training isn't easy, and it includes preparation for your state's licensing exam. Take a look below at just three great tips that will help you pass with ease.

Take Notes from the Beginning

It's all too easy to mentally separate your vocational training from the test itself, but the two things are inextricably connected. One of the most important things you can do to prepare for the exam you'll ultimately take is to begin taking notes from the very start of your training. Outline important concepts, and then supplement these with examples from real-life problems. Every month or so, go back through your notes and consider speaking with your instructors about any aspects of your studies that you're unsure about. Consistent note-taking is just one good habit that will leave you feeling prepared and relaxed come test time.

Take Several Practice Exams

No matter how good their notes are, or how completely they feel they understand the material, many people are understandably anxious about taking their HVAC licensing exam. They may feel unprepared simply because they don't know what to expect from the test. Thankfully, no matter where you're located, you can access a huge number of free practice exams online. Of course, these tests aren't exact copies of the real exam, but they are invaluable forms of test prep nonetheless. The question types and answer explanations that are included in many practice tests means that you can form accurate expectations, and as a result, take the pressure off yourself.

Take Opportunities to Apply Skills

Lots of notes and finished practice exams will get you far when it comes to HVAC test prep, but there is no substitute for real-world opportunities to practice your newfound skills. Many people who pursue a career in HVAC are kinesthetic learners, meaning they learn best when they take what they've learned in a book or in the classroom and work through the necessary steps to actually apply it. Take advantage of as many opportunities as you can to perform extra work supervised by your mentors. Doing this means that on the exam, you are far more likely to accurately visualize different problems and come up with correct solutions.
